Bending Limits Sportfishing spent this weekend in the beautiful port of Grand Haven. Fishing was very good. Thursday and Friday we had catches consisting of mostly King Salmon. Fish were scattered and caught anywhere from 80 to 170 feet of water. One thing that stayed consistent, is how much the fish wanted the Big Weenie Meat Rigs. Blue balls continues to be our best bait.
Saturday and Sunday were tournament days. Both days brought very very tough weather. Saturday was incredible foggy. We targeted lake trout. We were able to put 9 lake trout and 3 salmon in the boat, putting us in 10th place after day 1. Sunday, day two, was a whole different story. East wind moved fish around like crazy. We were able to put 10 lake trout in the box, and only 1 salmon. Because we couldn’t put two more salmon in the boat, it dropped us down to 12th place in the pro division.
Although tournament fishing was tough, good numbers of fish are still coming to the net.
